Walls & A well deserved break
The crew worked in warp speed this week to get all the drywall up in time for the mudder/taper to start working first thing Monday morning. While this taping/mudding is happening, the boys will be taking a much deserved break with a fishing trip in Northern Ontario. What a difference the drywall makes!

Windows, Water & Wires, Wires, Wires
Once again, lots to report on this week...
Very few things in my handyman's life give him as much pleasure as an organized electrical panel!

Pot light vapor boots in the cathedral ceiling...

And here comes the water - septic tank is on the property, won't be above ground for too much longer! As a very young crew member pointed out a few days ago "that's where my pee goes" :)
Our well was also recently dug and it took 224 feet to hit the right pressure of water. Not sure if I believe it REALLY took that long, however we will grin and pay the bill! Doesn't look like much right now but eventually this will provide the house with water!

And finally, and more excitingly, windows were also installed and they are beautiful! Here are our two living room/family room windows...

Master bedroom window on the right, master bathroom window on the left...

Door to the eventual garage...

And finally, our wonderful guard dog who is already protecting our new home...

This week will include more insulation, poly & drywall - just in time for the boys to take a much needed fishing trip after this coming weekend. While they are away, the house will be taped & muded so that the finishes can start upon their return.
Happy Days!

Reality is Setting In
Lots of posts this week - hard to keep up with our ever changing house! So much has happened over the past 6 days and there are no signs of slowing down.

Although I am clearly aware that a baby is in our fairly immediate future, the reality of how close it is to being our reality is somewhat hard to grasp sometimes. I am so looking forward to meeting our little person, and to get to know just who he/she is and what they are all about. I didn't expect it, but reality set in yesterday during a visit to the job site. The north side of our house has had its inside walls framed, and walking into our future baby's room brought me to tears. It is amazing to have the space now where our 1st child will grow into a little person & love of our lives. Although it doesn't look like much yet, it feels nice to have a space (other than a corner of our apartment) to bring the baby home too.

I am excited for this house to come to reality for so many reasons, but #1 by far is to have someplace for our family to call home. I am so in love with the layout & finishes we have chosen, however I am so much more in love with the idea of watching our family grow and flourish in the future and know that we will always have this wonderful place to come home to at the end of the day.

And it's a house...
This week proved to be extremely productive on the house front! The boys worked so hard in order to make the progress that they did and I couldn't be happier!
First, the basement floor was finished and the main floor rafters were installed...

After this was sheeted, the main floor was able to be framed and sheeted as well!

Tomorrow, the roof trusses are arriving and will be added to the house. Next will be shingling & windows! Hard to believe how far we've come in just 4 days - a true testament to how amazing the crew is!
