Major Progress, The Move and the First few Nights...

My apologies for my lack of posting the past week or so but since we are now MOVED into Clarence Rd, our internet has not been hooked up yet. Since my last post, so much has happened. The house is really coming together and whole rooms are being completed which is just amazing to see. We also have spent our first few nights in the house and are enjoying every minute of it. The puppy is a little out of sorts with all the new sounds, smells and places to discover but seems to be much happier with the 4 acres, then he was with the 2m area he had at the apartment!

The new front door...

Main bathroom, just waiting for a mirror (which is presently up against the wall outside the bathroom and the place I have dried my hair for the past few days)...

The fabulous mud/laundry room...

Master Bedroom closet (it's going to need some work)...

Master Bathroom vanities (again, waiting for the mirror)...

Master Bedroom with our new bed...

Family room (long ways to go in this room, but just having the couch has been so nice!)...

Kitchen...

And finally, the only room of the house that is completely done for now (and for good reason) the baby's room...

We do still have a long way to go, but the house is definitely livable and has absolutely everything we need (except full hydro, but that's another issue). We were so lucky to have some great helpers over the past few weeks, painting, moving & cleaning - getting us all ready to start our new life and our Clarence Road Project.

We are now less than a week away from my due date and are anxiously awaiting just when our love will grace us with its presence. Will keep updating as progress continues!

Happy Days!

Cookies for Everyone!

Over the weekend and today, the kitchen boxes were constructed as well as the drawers. Our appliances (at least most of them) were also delivered and the tile has gone down in both the main bathroom & the mud room. Doors have also started being installed and closet and door trim is well on its way! The house is really starting to take shape and I am really falling in love with every inch of it!

Our kitchen cupboard boxes waiting in the basement to be sprayed...

Our cupboard drawer assembly line...

Mud room tile just waiting for grout...

One of the installed doors...

Our beautiful washer and dryer that I am SURE will get plenty of use very soon...

The next two pictures need no explanation - pure joy!

With this double oven, I now have the power and ability to bake 6 dozen cookies in 5 minutes with the 3 racks in each oven and the fact that they are both convection. I have been told by a few people that there is no excuse now to not have fresh cookies 365 days a year. We'll see, but I just may be able to comply as I am pretty sure cooking & baking in this kitchen will be easy peasy.

Phew...I love the floors

I have to admit when our floors first arrived on site, I was worried that I wasn't going to like them. Now that they are installed, I love, love, LOVE them. I think it was a combination of seconding guessing my decision as well as knowing that it was also the first choice we had made that was kind of permanent in the house. Wall colours can always be changed, however, 1500 square feet of hardwood will most likely not be! Window trim is also complete in the house which is one of my favourite things so far. I love the finished look of the trim, and also how fresh the white is.

The rest of the flooring in the bedrooms & tile in the bathrooms and mud room will be next, along with kitchen cupboards. Appliances are being delivered Monday...a much anticipated occasion for me!

Clarence road currently has 3 houses on it. Inside those 3 houses are 3 pregnant ladies. I have been told by the other two that there is a 0% chance of the 3 of us all being pregnant at the same time ever again, so we thought we would capture this amazing time in all our lives. I am surprised that I am posting this picture as I look swollen & squinty, but I couldn't resist adding it to our Clarence Road Project progress. The other 2 wonderful ladies pictured here are already wonderful mothers to 2 little boys and will be adding another boy to each of their families shortly. All I can say is we better put a bell on our child should it be a girl. With 4 boys running around these parts we would probably be best to keep an eye on her!

Let there be light...and flooring

Thanks to a few great friends, the house is now completely painted & looks amazing. Most of the lighting has also been able to go in, as well as the ceiling speakers.

All of our flooring is also on site now including our hardwoods & tile. The hardwoods will need to sit for a few days to acclimatize to the house to minimize the amount of shrinking once installed.

Plywood has also gone down in all our "tiled" areas including the front entrance, back entrance & mud room, as well as both bathrooms.

I am now the one who is nervous & anxious as all the decor choices I have made are now coming into reality. At this point, I am just hoping that everything works together once all is in place. Fingers crossed!

The front porch was also completed the other day and has already been enjoyed on occasion for a few moments of relaxation. The porch is very shady as well as a protector from the rain so I am sure that it will be well used for many years.

This week, our flooring will be installed and the kitchen cupboard boxes as well as bathroom vanity's will be built which means it is truly time to start packing the apartment! The doctor has let me know that the baby has dropped more than you would normally see at 36 weeks so it could be any day now! We are both trying to get ready for the move & the baby...thankfully we have so much love and support from our wonderful friends and family. I am hoping for a few more weeks sans-bebe, however I am starting to realize that my schedule may be on hold from now on to give way for a tiny person's needs and desires. For the first time in my life, I am more than willing to put my own bossiness aside and listen to someone else for a change - good thing babies are so lovable!

Drywall & Paint

Over the fishing trip & while I was away in Halifax, all our walls were taped & mudded and today, paint first touched our bare space.

Here is the basement stairs opening (railing to follow, of course)...

I forgot to take pictures, but the front porch has also been completed which is so exciting! Will post more tomorrow of painted walls & the porch.

So happy for these two who wed over the weekend in Halifax! The wedding was beautiful and we couldn't be happier for our wonderful friends.

Now that I have gotten home, and lived through the plane ride, the baby can come anytime! 4 weeks left until my due date but who knows what schedule this child of ours will be on. I am so excited to get his/her room ready and be truly prepared (as much as we can be) for its arrival. Even my handyman is anxious to get the car seat in place - just in case! I am feeling great, just fairly hot and swollen but really can't complain. Looking forward to one more month before meeting our little person.
