Change of Scenery

For the past few months, a quilt that my grandmother made hung above Colin's change table. At first, he loved to stare at it, often calming him during the most unruly diaper changes. In the past few weeks however, what was once an admired and stared at quilt, has become a grabbed at, and pulled down quilt. We are into grabbing around here. It wouldn't be such a big deal if the quilt didn't come crashing down each and every time his diaper is changed, especially if the dowel didn't smack him in the face as it has the last few times.

I knew it was time to make a change in that space of his room but I still wanted something that he would like to look at the 5 times a day his diaper is changed, however also wanted something that wasn't accessible to his tiny yet ninja like hands and grip. After a lot of looking online for inspiration, I settle on flash cards. I contemplated a few different sets but finally ordered the Alphabeasties Flash cards.

When they arrived, I was pumped. They are super thick, good quality flash cards that have animals and words on one side while the other creates a puzzle.

I am not in love with the display that I came up with so far but am thinking of adding some trim around the perimeter of the cards to create a picture frame-like look to the wall. What I do love, is how they grabbed Colin's gaze immediately and he already seems to love them.

It is a work in progress...
